My one-on-one work with Floyd has helped train me to be a better CEO as he mentors me and provides me with sound advice and many articles to read.

Every meeting I come with two or three questions I want my peers to answer. I would guess that together our group has about 400 years of managing business experience.

Inner Circle is where I take our burning questions. My peers are not into “Minnesota Nice,” and are very direct with their comments and insights. They don’t hold back, but that’s why I joined them. Often I say, “I never thought of it that way….” The group has forced me to think outside that box, to get away from my normal pattern of dealing with things.

Working one on one with Floyd is outstanding as well. In that setting, or as he facilities the group, his life experiences are excellent background, and his process of keeping us on task is vital. I respect him for the group time and as my personal mentor.

It’s lonely at the top, and as the president I have to make a lot of decisions, often difficult ones. The Inner Circle peer members offered a forum where I gained insight, advice and help as they have also been there, facing the same thing.
